Cosmopolitan Cocktail
Cosmopolitan Cocktail
This is a cocktail made with either vodka, gin or light rum, approx. 4 oz. --
to which you add the following:
1 oz. Cointreau
Lime juice (freshly squeezed, if possible)
Dash of Cranberry Juice
Garnish as desired (thinly sliced lemon or lime)
A variation, if you are a fan of flavored vodka:
3 oz. orange-flavored vodka
1/2 oz. Cointreau
Dash of Cranberry Juice
Squeeze of Lime
Garnish with a lime peel

1 ½ oz. Tortuga Gold Rum
1 oz. Tortuga Coconut Rum
2 ½ oz. Orange Juice
2 ½ oz. Pineapple Juice
Splash of Tortuga Strawberry Syrup
Garnish with Cherry, Lime & Orange Slices.

To make 1 cocktail
1 ounce fresh lemon juice
3 ounces bourbon
½ ounce grenadine
3 to 4 ice cubes
1 slice orange
A dash of cold club soda
An 8-ounce wine glass, chilled
Combine the lemon juice, bourbon, grenadine and ice cubes in a mixing glass. Place a shaker on top of the mixing glass and, grasping them firmly together, shake vigorously. Remove the shaker, place a strainer on top of the mixing glass, and pour into the chilled glass.
Garnish with a slice of orange. Rinse the shaker with the dash of club soda and pour into the glass.
Create an alternate using any whiskey flavor you favor.

Bloody Mary with Lovage
Bloody Mary with Lovage
Combine all, except lovage stalks:
1 quart tomato juice
1/2 cup lime juice
2 tablespoons prepared horseradish
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon Tabasco sauce (or to taste)
1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 1/2 cups good-quality vodka or gin (we prefer Tanqueray, or, in England, Gordon's non-export)
Garnish:
6 10-inch lovage stalks, leaves cut off
Combine all ingredients except lovage in a pitcher and stir well. Pour over ice in 6 tall glasses and garnish with the lovage stalks, which should be used as straws.
Yield: 6 drinks.
